Friends of Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR)

Come help garden at FOLAR's new Petersburg location! Join us THURSDAY, May 16th (Date Change due to Rain on the 15th!) at 235 N Market St, Petersburg to help restore the outdoor space. There will be and education session at the beginning of the event, no experience necessary!

Volunteers will be using hand tools such as shovels, weeders, and pitchforks. Knee pads for weeding will be available.

• No experience necessary. Training and plant identification will be at the beginning of each event.
• Gloves and tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
• Wear sturdy closed-toed shoes.
• Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a snack. We may provide water and snacks, but we can't guarantee their availability for every event.
• This event may be canceled in case of storms or heavy rain.
• Parking is available at 235 N Market St, Petersburg.

Join us to clear out trash, tend the garden, and remove invasive plants at the Petersburg trailhead of the Appomattox River Trail! Meeting location is the trailhead parking lot: 527 University Blvd, Petersburg

Help us restore native plants and local wildlife along the trail! Join us Saturday the 18th of May. Volunteers will be removing invasive plants, weeding the garden beds, or picking up trash (your choice!), using hand tools such as loppers, trowels, and trash pickers. There will be an invasive plant removal training at the beginning of the event.

• No experience necessary. Training will be at the beginning of the event. A great opportunity to learn about your local native plants!
• Gloves and tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
• Wear long pants that cover your ankles and sturdy closed-toed shoes.
• Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and an optional snack. We may bring water and snacks, but we can't guarantee their availability for every event.
• This event may be canceled in case of storms or heavy rain.
• Parking is available at 527 University Blvd, Petersburg VA.

We will be working at the trailhead across the road (west) of the parking lot.
