For our first meeting, we will discuss the epic, medieval poem, originally written in Old English. Transcribed by English Monks between 975 and 1025 AD, it is unclear when or how the tale was originally told. It is assumed it began as a folk tale for pagan Anglo Saxons, depicting their old world of Scandinavia. With a wonderful blend of christian and pagan elements, this epic tale with monsters, dragons, heroes, and political strife between kingdoms has left readers and listeners entranced for millennia.
