Life Shared — Bible Discussion Group on how to share faith in Jesus
Details
This Sunday we’re launching a four-week series called Life Shared. In a time when so many are hungry for connection and loneliness is epidemic, we’re thinking practically and honestly about what it would look like to share our lives with others—and what gets in the way. This series evokes 1 Thessalonians where the apostle Paul writes: “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” While everything we do is open to people of all backgrounds and beliefs, this study really meant to help Christians share their faith in an authentic and relational way, so this particular group would be a better fit for people who want to share Jesus with others, but have hit some bumps and roadblocks along the way!
Format
We’ll meet in McHattie Hall for a more casual, interactive discussion. You’re welcome to come between 4 and 4:15pm, when we’ll start. The vibe is relaxed and relational. We’ll sing worship songs led by Joel on the guitar to open our time, watch and discuss a short video, and then we’ll dig into the Bible passage for the day. No prior background knowledge is needed, and if you need a Bible, let us know—we’d love to give you one! And if you prefer to listen rather than talk, don’t worry—you won’t have to share anything unless you want to.
We do require an RSVP, primarily because we’ll need to send you a link to add your dinner order to our group order.
More info on the series from the developers at Alpha Canada:
Designed to encourage and equip everyone in the church to share their lives and faith with others in a relational and authentic way, this series features insights from Christian thought leaders like Jon Tyson, Danielle Strickland, Jay Patak, and Simon Lobo and centers around Bible study and discussion. The aim is to provoke thought, conversation, courage. and prayer. Rather than give people a formula for sharing faith, we hope to spark re-imagination around this topic, and invite each person to take a step in the direction of reaching out to others, and join together with what God is already doing all around us.
The series will culminate with the opportunity to put what we’ve learned into practice, inviting people to our Easter Sunday celebration—whether that be to simply enjoy the community meal around the food truck, or to bring a friend to the worship service, which will focus on what living hope means for our lives today.
