Details

This event is weather pending and subject to two days cancellation notice. If the weather sucks, I will postpone this to a future weekend.

I have a few extra pieces of Maple wood logs that needs to be burned. The wood is food safe so you can cook with it. You can practise your primitive cooking skills.

Bring a chair and long skewer sticks for some open flame cooking. I will bring a cast iron pan and a cast iron pot if someone wants to cook on the open flame. If someone has a functional rotisserie, you can bring that too and we can try playing with it. I will also bring a burner in case our primitive cooking fails.

We will set up a canopy right on the sand at Centennial Beach. Look for a large Coleman canopy and a table. For this event, please bring a blanket, a chair, sunscreen, food, and water. The temperature might still be chilly so please dress appropriately.

This isn't really potluck style. You can bring your own takeout food to eat, bring food and cook it for yourself to eat or bring food and cook it and share with people. It's fine if you are potato chip snacker and you just want to talk to others. It's fine if you bring your kitchen and whip up some serious foodie meals for us to enjoy.

We just chill and enjoy the warmth of the open flame and watch wood burn and food cook.

If you need to arrange carpool, please organize amongst yourselves in the comments below. Please remember to reimburse the driver for gas and mileage. I won't be offering carpool. The wood pieces are heavy. Some weigh 40 pounds. I will bring an axe.

By RSVP, yes, you agree to the risks in an outside environment. The organizer is not responsible for any injury, illness or any other liabilities you acquired before, during or after the event. We do not tolerate reckless behaviour. We are a group of volunteers and not professional tour guides. As a group of friends and acquaintances, we will look after one another.

If you cancel, please be courteous and provide 48 hours cancellation notice so people in the wait list can be moved to going.
