The Illusion of Control & Use of Food to Cope
Details
Hi Team,
There is evidence that there is a connection between psychological control and eating behaviors, highlighting how individuals often use food to manage overwhelming life stressors. If you use food to calm yourself when life feels out of control, or feel that you need to control every aspect of your life, this session is for you.
We do have a few guidelines for the group (to foster a safe and supportive environment):
Guidelines for the group:
- Please have your cameras on - we love to see faces and want you to know that you are seen, as well as provide a safe space to share
- Speak from your own experience
- Refrain from using numbers (calories, weight, etc). Numbers lead to comparison and we are here to support.
- Refrain from specific foods, instead say "comfort foods", "safe foods", "trigger foods" etc,
- Please limit share to two-minutes so we all have an opportunity to share.
