Inflammation is a normal and natural part of the body's defense response when it encounters something harmful or irritating. Sometimes however, the body is unable to stop this process and begins to operate as if it is always under attack. This is referred to as chronic inflammation and is linked to a whole host of problems including obesity, heart disease, cancer, dementia and even depression. Chronic inflammation is often a result of our dietary & lifestyle choices but it is also exacerbated by living in a hyped-up, overworked, and stressed out culture.
Healthy eating & exercise are critical for healing chronic inflammation. Yoga in particular, has been shown to lower the levels of pro-inflammatory molecules in the body as well as reduce stress hormones that contribute to inflammation.
Please join nutritionist, Iris Briand & yoga therapist, Anne Witmer for a 2 hour workshop in which you will learn simple ways to “tame the flame” of inflammation and bring both your body and mind into a more natural state of balance. The workshop will include:
