Casa Rasta (South Hills)

I don't know if you've noticed, but we're in the middle of a taco revolution here in Pittsburgh. Sure, we've had varying levels of "Mexican" restaurants and even some upscale casual burrito chains, but this is something quite different. Lately, we've seen tasty, creative, and delicious tacos show up on the menus of new upstarts all over town.

One is an actual truck (http://pghfoodtruck.com/) (seek him out). One is a cart (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/23/1517659/restaurant/Strip-District/Reyna-Foods-Reynas-Taco-Shack-Pittsburgh) in front of Reyna Foods in the Strip. Another two that I've tried are actual (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/23/1597860/restaurant/Pittsburgh/Homestead-Munhall/SMOKE-barbeque-taqueria-Homestead) restaurants (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/23/1641623/restaurant/Far-South-South-Hills/Casa-Rasta-Pittsburgh) — almost necessary given the City's seeming desire (http://www.pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/Content?oid=1551876) to squash local food trucks in their infancy. For our first taco meetup We're going to try one of the brick and mortar options: Casa Rasta. I have a feeling we'll try others at some point in the future, but we have to start somewhere. :-)

For those who haven't checked it out, Casa Rasta is in a small-ish shop in South Hills that offers 8 different fillings that can be used in a handful of different tortilla themed constructions. Two of those options are event vegetarian! I've been out once before and found them both to be excellent.

Casa Rasta is normally closed on Tuesdays, but they're going to open up next Tuesday just to host us. This is another BYOB establishment, so be sure to bring along a few cold beers. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up soon!
