Labor Day Leisure Paddle and Social - Muddy Creek into Catawba River #2
Details
This is quickly becoming one of several member's favorite river kayaking spot. A few of us have done this journey 4 or 5 times.
Muddy Creek to the Catawba River is a leisure paddle suitable for beginners. Nice scenery along the way, mostly canopied on the Muddy Creek portion, and usually you'll get to see some wildlife.
No rental kayaks are available. Everyone needs to bring their own boat, paddle, PFD (vest), snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and water.
This trek normally takes about 3 1/2 hours to complete.
Everyone be at the Muddy Creek Access (located on US-70 on the right (has a nice big sign) just before turning right on Bridgewater Road) at 10:00 a.m. sharp with your kayaks already unloaded. We will set up the shuttle then. Plan to be on the creek/river at 10:30 a.m. We will take out at Watermill Road Access point.
Coordinates: 35.71113 -81.857666
Afterwards we will go out to eat at an agreed restaurant.
** I'd like to reserve moving this event to Saturday September 2nd, 2023, in the event that Sunday's event looks like a rainout. I will make a weather call on Friday September 1st.
