Keehi Lagoon to Pu'uloa/Ewa Beach – 8 miles –

Aloha Paddlers!!!

We’ll be paddling from Keehi Lagoon Park to Ewa beach Park, a distance of 8.1 miles. This is a part of Oahu not many people get to see because we will be paddling in front of the airport and the entrance to Pearl Harbor. We often see dolphins near the airport on this paddle. If the winds are “trades”, it will be all downwind after we leave Keehi Lagoon, which would make it a nice easy paddle.

So, here’s the plan…….Meet at 7:30 AM at Keehi Lagoon park near the Canoe Halau, which is at the VERY END of the road that goes through the park. We’ll off-load boats and set up the car shuttle which will be leaving at 8:00 AM. It’s a rather lengthy shuttle around Pearl Harbor, so I’m guessing we’ll have the shuttle complete and plan on paddling away at between 9 and 9:30 AM. This should put our arrival time at Ewa Beach Park at about 1:00 PM . Hoping to see a lot of our group there now that we've re-started ourGroup!!

==== KNOW YOUR LIMITS ====
Know your capabilities, limits, forecast conditions and check your equipment before you go. Sun Screen, hat and plenty of water are a must. Sun glasses, gloves and dry bag are a good idea. Remember to stay in sight of the group and TELL OTHERS IF YOU ARE LEAVING. You alone are responsible for your health and safety. Check conditions at http://www.surfnewsnetwork.com/ or call the National Weather service at 808-973-4380 (#2 to get wind speeds and #3 for surf report). Knowing the latest forecast, you can decide (based upon individual abilities) whether to paddle, or stay home and clean the yard.
==== NEED TO RENT ====
The club does not own, rent, pick up or deliver kayaks to events. Check club site for possible ride sharing/equipment and tandems. If you need to rent a kayak, 1st check w/Bob, and he'll be able to put you in contact with a company that will be able to get you one at a discount, ACTIVE OAHU gives Meetup members a 15% discount off regular rental rates! MENTION YOU ARE JOINING THE CLUB TRIP. They also have car top pads, straps, dry bags, etc. Call the store 808-498-1894. You can also pick up your kayak the day before, after 3 pm so you can drive straight to the put-in the next day; let them know and they’ll be happy to accommodate your request.
