More about the Event:
When does "human-like" design stop being helpful and start being manipulative? Anthropomorphism often masks who is actually responsible when things go wrong. If we talk about AI "making decisions" or "hallucinating," we might ignore the engineers and companies behind the curtain. Those that have seen the mess that is Grok recently on Twitter, you see first-hand where pitfalls happen in real time.
Instead of viewing AI as just software, this theme explores the transition where humans begin to treat AI as a social entity from multiple lenses. So far, our speakers are less about the AI's "intelligence" and more about our psychological "social wiring." The goal is to have several perspectives on this in a way that supports our audience in understanding the complexities of the topic.
We have one speaker queued up to talk regarding the dangers of anthropomorphizing artificial intelligence. We have space available for two more. More information will be provided once we've finalized our list of speakers.
