A Metis woman named Joan and her young cousin Zeus search for her missing husband a year after he vanished. They find a reverend named Eugene Wolff who looks just like Joan's husband and has no memory of his past. Joan becomes convinced a conman in their midst is a rogaru, a wolf creature who has taken control over her husband.
