"A Letter to Anita" - Film and Conversation
Presented by Stonewall National Women's Fund
"A Letter to Anita" is a poignant documentary that traces the personal and political fallout of Anita Bryant’s anti-gay crusade through the life of activist Ronni Sanlo, whose coming out led to devastating consequences, and ultimately, a powerful legacy of LGBTQ+ advocacy.
Directed by Andrea Meyerson and narrated by Meredith Baxter, A Letter to Anita centers on Sanlo, a married mother of two who came out as a lesbian in the late 1970s. After her divorce, she lost custody of her children due to Florida laws influenced by Bryant’s “Save Our Children” campaign.
