The Alliance for the Arts (AFTA) is proud to provide unique and plentiful opportunities to create, experience and collaborate on art in all forms of expression. AFTA is committed to breaking down barriers to access the arts and increasing awareness about the role of the arts in stimulating workforce development and helping bridge the digital divide, developing cultural appreciation, and attaining positive mental and physical health, among many other benefits.
At AFTA we believe that the arts serve as a strong foundation for individuals and the community, and our mission reflects that. We know that the arts can be the inspiration for learning, collaborating, creating and understanding. Art is where we can all be unique while being the same: It is cathartic and uniting, and at AFTA, all are welcome to find and pursue their creative path.

Intro to 3D modeling and Animation with Blendr (Ages 16+)

Step into the world of 3D art and animation using Blender- the free, industry-grade software used by designers, animators, and game developers worldwide. In this beginner-friendly course, you’ll learn how to model, texture, and animate your own 3D creations from the ground up.
Whether you’re an artist curious about new digital tools, a student preparing for a creative career, or simply looking to explore the magic of animation, this hands-on course will guide you through the essentials of working in a 3D space with confidence.
This class will cover:
Week 1: Blender Basics & 3D Fundamentals
Week 2: Sculpting & Modifiers
Week 3: Materials, Lighting & Texturing
Week 4: Animation & RenderingWhen the series is completed, you’ll leave with a solid understanding of Blender’s core tools, a selection of finished 3D models and animations, portfolio-ready renders and resources for continuing your 3D journey.

Hula with Marliss (Ages 3-9 and 10+)

Experience the spirit and rhythm of the Pacific Islands in Hula with Marliss! This dynamic class introduces students to the traditional styles of Hawaiian, Tahitian, Māori, and Samoan dance. With a focus on both technique and cultural appreciation, students will learn the foundations of each style while mastering vibrant performance dances and songs.
Classes are grouped by age:- Ages 3–9: 4:30 – 5:15 p.m.
- Ages 10 and up: 5:15 – 6:15 p.m.

Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and celebrate Polynesian culture at 3–4 community performances. Costumes are required for performances and are provided at a minimal cost.

Advanced Techniques with Procreate (Ages 16+ Intermediate Level)

Take your digital art skills to the next level! In this follow-up to Intro to Procreate, we’ll build on your foundational knowledge and put it into action. Each week, you’ll create a new piece of original artwork using a focused set of tools and techniques — from advanced brushes and blending modes to selection tricks and texture effects. This project-based course is designed to showcase Procreate’s versatility while helping you grow your personal style and creative confidence. Whether you’re drawing, painting, or designing, you’ll leave with a portfolio of finished work and a stronger command of the tools Procreate offers.
