The Heart Jewel prayer and meditation practice is the heart essence of Kadampa Buddhism. It is used by many Kadampas as their main daily practice to accomplish and protect inner qualities like love, compassion, and wisdom. Through these beautiful prayers we can overcome obstacles to our Dharma practice and create favorable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our pure Dharma realizations.
The first part of Heart Jewel is a special meditation practice through which we receive blessings and gain the realizations of the path to enlightenment. The second part is meditation on the Buddha of Wisdom in the aspect of a Dharma Protector, whereby we can gain the inner strength needed to overcome all obstacles to our spiritual practice.
In this special meditation series, Gen Namdrol will share commentary from the book, Heart Jewel: The Essential Practices of Kadampa Buddhism by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. She will also share commentary and explanations given at our October Fall Festival at the International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon. Each class will include guided meditation, a teaching, and Heart Jewel prayers.
Whether you hope to establish or to strengthen your daily Heart Jewel practice, or you are new to meditation and interested in learning more about this special ritual prayer, please feel welcome to attend these classes in person or via livestream (members only).
If you wish, you may purchase a copy of the book Heart Jewel: The Essential Practices of Kadampa Buddhism, as well as the sadhana (prayer booklet), Heart Jewel at the Center or online at: https://tharpa.com/us/heart-jewel-book
