What we’re about

A Doxa Dinner is a community-funded micro-grant event where neighbors come together over a simple meal (soup, salad, and bread) to support local entrepreneurs. Everyone contributes a small amount (often $5 cash) at the door.

4-5 preselected local entrepreneurs or small business owners pitch their ideas to the room; not with formal business plans, but by sharing their story, vision, and heart. The community eats together, listens, and votes. Every dollar collected at the door becomes the micro-grant, and the entrepreneur with the most votes takes it home that night.

The magic is that it’s not just about funding; it’s about civic participation. Neighbors become seed funders, connectors, and champions for local business. Entrepreneurs leave not only with money but with new relationships, encouragement, and community buy-in.

The Doxa Dinner model was born out of Flint SOUP in Flint, Michigan and has since expanded into other regions like Bay (MI), Midland (MI), Saginaw (MI), Fort Worth (TX), and Hampton Roads (VA).
