Drei Sätze und Eine Frage - GRAPEVINE

Details
Topic for May 17: Das ABC
Have you noticed that not a lot of language apps walk you through the ABCs? I have used 3 apps so far to learn German and have yet to see it. So, let’s get some practice in and have some fun with it.
For your 3 sentences this time, introduce yourself by way of the ABCs. Pick any three letters and use them to tell your conversation partner about yourself, and, as always, prepare a question to push the conversation farther.
You can start the conversation by asking your partner something like “Welche Buchstaben bescreiben dich am besten?”
From there the conversation might continue “Die Buchstaben die mich am besten beschreiben, sind M, A, und F. “M” steht für Musik. “A” steht für Arschl… NUR EIN WITZ!!!! Naturlich habe ich “Armleuchter” gemeint…”
You get the idea.
What Drei Sätze und Eine Frage is All About
As German learners, we all know that learning words from a textbook is pretty easy, but getting words to come out of your mouth in real time (and make sense) is hard. Meetups look to be good practice, but it’s impossible to be conversant on all the topics that come up in a large group. So how about a little practice?
How This Event Works
- I pick a conversation topic or two in advance and post it in the Meetup description (see above).
- You prepare 3 sentences and a question on that topic.
- During the session, you’ll use your prepared material as we break into pairs and have several short conversations, switching partners every 10 minutes until we’ve conversed as much as we can. Start with your prepared material and let the conversation flow anywhere from there. Feel free to bring your prepared material in written form if you need it along the way.
After that we can dissolve into whatever silliness we need – either auf Deustch or English or both.
Best 3 sentences and question wins a pack of silly putty.
