What we’re about
Are you interested in TED talks, Radiolab, Hidden Brain and other science related podcasts? The Fort Worth Women's Science Society is welcoming dynamic women who enjoy an engaging group of friends! Our goal is be a diverse group of folks meeting to have informed and thoughtful discussions on science-based media. We strive to learn from others, listen to various viewpoints and bond over the complexities of life and science. No question, idea, or quandary is too abstract. We strive to suck the marrow out of life! If you want to expand your mind, challenge perspectives, and have ideas of your own worth spreading, then this is the group for you. Our members possess degrees in science or a passion for critical thinking. We typically meet at Winehaus. Each month a host member will pick a podcast of their choice and we share in an engaging discussion relating to the topic. We ask that each member listen to the assigned podcast and be prepared to thrash out viewpoints.

Through the Scope: A look into the World of Histology
Have you ever had your appendix or gall bladder removed, or any other type of surgery? What happens to that tissue or organ that was removed? Have you ever wondered what happens to a tissue biopsy after it is collected? These specimens are “sent off to the pathology lab” for analysis, but what does that actually mean? Join us during this discussion to explore what happens behind the scenes in the pathology lab!

1st and most important—Welcome and Thank you for joining us at our meetup!
2nd. Do the homework! Be sure to have listened or read the material before joining us. It will help you stay in the loop!
3rd. Wine, beer and Topo Chico are available at the bar! Meals are not served at Winehaus but sometimes Charcuterie boards are available. You are welcome to bring your dinner and eat during the discussion or order from a local business for delivery!
4th. A typical meetup looks like this:
An icebreaker question just to introduce yourself.
Gentille banter about the icebreaker or uproarious laughter (hey! It happens)
And the hostess throws out questions to incite conversation!
If there is something you really want to say and need an outlet to do so, please feel free to join our discord server and participate virtually as well as in person! Join FWWSS on Discord here: https://discord.gg/8eBm8pJqan
