1.0 Welcome to the "Meetup of Meetups"!
A warm Texas welcome to you! We're thrilled you're joining us for "Proof
of Steak," a unique gathering for Bitcoin community builders held on
Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
This event is designed as the exclusive pre-conference summit, the
perfect warm-up before the main BitBlockBoom conference kicks off.
Being a community organizer can sometimes feel like a solo mission.
This summit is designed to change that.
The core goal of this summit is simple but powerful: to bring together
Bitcoin meetup organizers from around the world to connect, share their
successes, troubleshoot common challenges, and ultimately strengthen the
entire grassroots Bitcoin movement. And while our focus is on community
building, we also warmly welcome miners, energy pros, and other
passionate Bitcoiners to join the conversation and foster valuable
cross-pollination.
To understand our approach, it helps to know that "Proof of Steak" is an
"unconference." Unlike a traditional conference with a rigid schedule,
an unconference is a participant-driven event where the agenda is
created by the attendees themselves, driven by participation,
collaboration, and shared knowledge. The best analogy for this format is
a community potluck:
An international unconference network is like a global "potluck" dinner
compared to a catered banquet...the "organizers" simply provide the
tables, chairs, and silverware (the venue and Wi-Fi), while the guests
bring the dishes (the content).
In this case, the "dishes" you bring are your unique experiences,
hard-won insights, and unsolved challenges — the very ingredients that
will nourish the entire community. This "potluck" model ensures that the
topics we discuss are the most relevant and pressing, because they are
brought to the table by you — the community builders on the front lines.
Now, let's walk through what your day will look like, from the first cup
of coffee to the final toast.
---
2.0 A Journey Through Your Day: The Agenda
Your day is thoughtfully designed to balance structured, high-impact
learning with the informal fun and camaraderie of authentic Texas
hospitality.
---
2.1 Morning Kick-Off: Coffee & Connection (9:30 AM – 11:00 AM)
Our day begins with an informal get-together in front of the historic
White Elephant Saloon, then we walk to the beautiful Hotel Drover and
its 97 West Kitchen & Bar for our morning mixer.
This is a pay-your-own coffee and drinks session designed to break the
ice and get conversations flowing immediately.
For a first-timer, this kick-off session offers several key benefits:
• Instant Networking: Your special name tag includes fields for My
Meetup: [City/Size] and Biggest Win/Challenge, acting as an immediate
conversation starter and helping you find fellow organizers with similar
experiences.
• Focused Chats: The space features themed tables dedicated to specific topics like "Attendance Growth Hacks." This allows you to quickly find
your tribe and dive into relevant discussions to share tips and gain
insights right from the start.
• Peer Bonding: This is the perfect opportunity to connect with your
peers over shared "war stories" and successes before the formal program
even begins.
With new connections made, we'll head out to experience an iconic Texas
tradition.
---
2.2 Late Morning: The Texas Experience (11:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Next, the group will take a short walk together to East Exchange Avenue
to witness the world-famous 11:30 AM longhorn cattle drive. This is more
than just a tourist attraction; it's a symbolic anchor for our mission.
The activity has a powerful thematic tie-in that speaks directly to the
work of a community builder:
"Herding communities — like driving longhorns: resilience, coordination,
and energy."
This is also a fantastic opportunity for group photos to capture the
moment. After the energy of the cattle drive, the day transitions into
lunch at a Fort Worth legend.
---
2.3 Midday: Lunch at a Fort Worth Legend (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
After the cattle drive, we walk over to the most famous restaurant in
Fort Worth: Joe T Garcia's. This family-owned landmark has been serving
Fort Worth since 1935, and its sprawling patio is the perfect setting to
break bread, swap stories, and keep the morning's conversations going
over enchiladas and fajitas.
Please note that this is a pay-your-own meal, with an estimated cost of
$15–25 per person. Joe T's is cash only — there is an ATM on-site, but
we recommend bringing cash.
This is your chance to form smaller, more focused groups and dive deeper
into niche topics with new friends who share your specific challenges,
such as the persistent issue of "Dealing with No-Shows."
---
2.4 Afternoon: The Main Event – Steak & Strategy (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM)
The afternoon marks the "Core Productivity" session — the strategic
heart of the summit — held at the legendary Cattlemen's Steak House, a
Stockyards icon since 1947. Grab a drink, settle in, and let's get to
work.
This session features seated roundtable discussions that are prioritized
for meetup organizers but also warmly welcome miners and energy
professionals to encourage valuable cross-pollination of ideas within
the broader Bitcoin ecosystem.
Roundtable Topics:
• Growing & Sustaining Meetups — Strategies for boosting attendance,
improving member retention, and preventing organizer burnout.
• Event Formats & Venues — The pros and cons of free vs. paid events,
securing sponsorships, and running hybrid models.
• Community Building Tools — Best practices for leveraging platforms
like X, Meetup.com, Telegram, and Lightning integration.
• Sharing Bitcoin Knowledge — Effective methods for onboarding beginners
and covering advanced topics (e.g., mining and energy).
Following this powerful afternoon of strategy, the atmosphere shifts to
a more relaxed social event to cap off the day.
---
2.5 Evening: Stockyards Pub Crawl (5:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
The day concludes with a loosely organized pub crawl, kicking off at the
White Elephant Saloon and winding through other iconic venues before
conveniently ending near the Hyatt Place hotel, the official venue for
the main BitBlockBoom conference.
This final activity serves two important purposes for attendees:
1. It provides a relaxed, informal atmosphere where the day's
conversations can continue, sparking new collaborations and forging
lasting friendships.
2. It offers a real-world opportunity to demonstrate a Bitcoin circular
economy by encouraging everyone to use Lightning zaps for drinks and
tips.
---
3.0 Beyond the Day: The Conversation Continues
Our mission at "Proof of Steak" is to forge lasting connections that
strengthen the entire Bitcoin meetup community. The collaboration and
energy shouldn't end when the pub crawl winds down.
To ensure the momentum continues, all attendees will be invited to
post-event Signal and Telegram groups for "Meetup of Meetups" alumni.
These groups will serve as your ongoing digital hub for sharing
resources, asking for advice, and continuing the powerful collaborations
started here in Fort Worth.

Your participation in "Proof of Steak" is an investment in the
resilience and growth of the entire Bitcoin grassroots network, one
meetup at a time.
