FORVM Photo Walk #6: Belém

We’re not here for the selfies in front of stone towers.
We’re not here to glorify discoveries either.

We’re here to walk along the edge of memory — and ask what’s missing.

Belém is Lisbon’s most polished lie.
A place of monuments, museums, parades.
It tells stories about ships and kings and golden ages.
But if you walk a little slower, you’ll find what’s underneath:
Silence. Absence. Stone trying to speak.

This was once the starting point for colonial empires.
Now it’s the backdrop for pastries and filtered light.

We’ll walk beyond the symmetry.
We’ll look at the cracks in the marble.
We’ll ask: who got remembered? Who didn’t?

We’re not photographing glory.
We’re photographing what it left behind.

### 📍 Structure:

🟡 This is not a guided tour. You’ll receive a map and a story prompt.
🟡 You’ll walk in small teams, discovering as you go.
🟡 The walk lasts about 1 hour and ends somewhere local for a drink and sharing.
🟡 All cameras welcome: phones, film, digital, whatever sees.
🟡 No content farming. No photoshoots. Just light, honesty, and quiet discomfort.

Every participant will send one photo after each FORVM Photo Walk — based on the theme of the day.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to say something.
A texture. A shadow. A moment. Your perspective.

Because at the end of the year, we’re putting together a FORVM exhibition — and we’ll be selecting our favorite shots from across all the walks.

So whether you’re a pro or just snapping on your phone — take the walk seriously. Notice things. Frame them. Capture them.
Then send us one image after the walk (you’ll get a reminder and an upload link).
