This is a group for active individuals looking for addiction recovery support through hiking, yoga, tai chi, running, sober wellness activities, 12-step meetings, addicts to athlete's meetings, spiritual support meetings, addiction education, and professional therapy, counseling and life coaching for pro members. All Foster50 members must be sober for no less than 48 hours before coming to groups or activities. No drug or alcohol glorification will be permitted at any groups or activities. Foster50 provides free and paid services. Free services generally include; hikes, sober parties, outdoor activities, and educational talks. Foster50's free program is dependent upon volunteers and donations. We recommend a $50 donation of money/time every 6 months or so, but it is not required. Our Pro members program is built like an outpatient program with licensed professional support. Pro members are typically independent and active adults in recovery that need additional support, but also need to keep working or to be in school. Pro members have all the support and connection of the free membership plus professional rehab level support. Please contact an administrator for insurance or private pay questions and cost.
Mary Harrison writes:
On October 24, 2018 Jon “Foster” Harrison would have turned 50 years old. He would have been a favorite uncle, a musician, a poet and writer, maybe a father. Truth is, one can only guess because on October 17, 1989 Foster died of an accidental heroin overdose. To honor my brother’s memory and to create something meaningful out of the pain of that loss, Foster50 was created to help inspire those who are struggling and looking for practical steps to take in order to improve their lives. Foster50 offers daily groups ranging from Yoga, Tai-chi, Substance Use Disorder Counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Skills, art, hiking, healthy cooking, goal-setting and more in order to help those that want to help themselves. We believe in hope. We believe in community. We foster key attributes such as connection, trust, honesty, faith, authenticity and courage.
We know that together we can make a difference as we awaken the light within. I am not alone; you are not alone. We can buoy each other up as we strengthen our resolve to bravely live each new day.
