We are glad to announce the July edition of FP Melbourne meetup of 2026, which will be hosted at Factor House office (https://factorhouse.io/) on 23rd of July.

We welcome all functional programming practitioners and enthusiasts across all levels to attend.

In this edition, we have the following presentations scheduled:

1. The CEO of Factor House Derek Troy-West will deliver a talk on their in-house and opensource Clojure web framework Slipway, a modern companion to the Eclipse Jetty framework, the design rationales and how it provide a more comprehensive, extensible, and high-performance web development option compared to standard Clojure ecosystem. 2. Noah Johnstone will deliver a talk on the lesson from using Clojure and functional programming in general for Australian high school education, drawing parallels between software development and education by applying ideas from the Clojure community to improve how Australian high schools teach.

3. The CTO of Circular Vision Geoffrey Borough will deliver a talk on exploring and using the Jane Street's OxCaml language(a super set of OCaml), how it enables high performance functional programming and its future prospect in competitions with low level high performance languages.

The location is at 13 Robbs Parade Northcote, the easiest way to get here is by taking the Mernda line on metro train and get off at Northcote station, then it's walking distance to Factor House office.

Doors open at 5:30pm, refreshments such as pizza, beer, soft drinks etc will be provided for your enjoyment.
