Chicago: TensorFlow, Raspberry Pi, & Movidius Neural Compute Stick Workshop

Details

The topic is computer vision with the RPi, Movidius (https://www.movidius.com/)NCS, TensorFlow, OpenCV, etc. Nothing formal or structured here. Just a group bunch of people helping each other out, working on different CV projects, or just trying to get started.

Bring your Linux Laptop and RPi’s if you have them. We will have extra Raspberry Pi’s & Compute Sticks to work with.

The Movidius NCS is a ASIC based TPU (Tensor Processing Unit / a deep learning inference engine). It lets you infer full size (4GB) TensorFlow and Caffe models a lot faster with less power than the Raspberry PI(RPi) alone. It’s $79 (https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Intel/NCSM2450DK/?qs=HXFqYaX1Q2wnBdnclDFUCw%3d%3d) and the first TPU packaged in USB stick. There is quite a long list of startups working on silicon like this that will be out in the next 2 years. Even Nvidia says they are going to release an open source version of something like this.

Check out the discussion group for the NCS. (https://ncsforum.movidius.com/)
