Talk 1: Go Microservices; Proof of concept to Production

Zak Knill

Go is a powerful language, but there are a few gotchas. This talk will cover transitioning a proof of concept to a production ready go service, the decisions to be made, the benefits and the pitfalls, and what we liked and disliked about it doing it ourselves.

Zak is an Engineer at Attest, building a super powerful consumer insight platform. He's a polyglot, jack of all trades (master of some) and aspiring code monster. Previously worked on complex cloud scaling problems.

Talk 2: Microservices at Monzo

Irina Bednova

How Monzo uses Go to build a distributed bank.

Irina is a backend engineer at Monzo. She has been in the Ruby / Rails world for over 7 years. Since moving to the UK in 2013 she worked at Freeagent, helping to make "a monolith" scale, and at Makers Academy, teaching the new generation of developers how to write maintainable code. Irina is enthusiastic about overcomplicated text editors from the 70s.
