Waterfront Coastal Italian at Capitano DC!
Waterfront Coastal Italian at Capitano DC!
Join us to enjoy the new southern & coastal Italian Capitano DC inside the Canopy Hotel at the Wharf! Just opened on March 6, Capitano promises a seasonal, ingredient driven menu which will bring the warmth of Italy to your heart (perhaps don't mention that to your cardiologist)! Fresh out of the box - there are not a lot of reviews readily available... so here's a sneak [peek! ](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=b2010e30be87c2d7&rlz=1C1MYPO_enUS1186US1186&sxsrf=ANbL-n7QF96KqINRyJzwSekLVm4IIhBMQw:1773939200381&udm=39&fbs=ADc_l-aN0CWEZBOHjofHoaMMDiKpmAsnXCN5UBx17opt8eaTX5MJRoosnbembaWTjeNSquJhopKzGFtXgl9coBQO6WPIzXQJ7xWrFSNJtPY_sN9P3Bp1JhQ8rhweG19BcJY7IX4dkk4-fK170qVf5whUF9Os5tDLUZoh7OWg-2aMM9vtkCP0U843gX20awUgkT5MJY8d_2jp7L7XBza0i01ayRbKIVkQ4A&q=capitano+dc+review&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwithJG_tqyTAxXwF1kFHTTzHI0Qs6gLegQIFBAB&cshid=1773939220667028&biw=1280&bih=551&dpr=1.5#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:29603d15,vid:ZPBrh9C_bhA,st:0) Let's check it out and see for ourselves! **Popville:** Capitano blends tradition with a touch of modern ease. It’s approachable, never fussy and where a plate of housemade pasta or the day’s crudo feels just as natural with a spritz at lunch as it does with a bottle of wine under the evening lights. The restaurant, which features open-air dining and views of the water (and maybe some cherry blossoms if we're lucky!), brings a fresh, approachable dining option to DC’s waterfront, as the concept takes over the restaurant space within the Canopy by Hilton at The Wharf. The interior is completely reimaged, with Capitano’s look and feel being inspired by the traditions, culture, and architecture of Southern Italy. Capitano’s bright colors and traditional textures of the Southern Italian region are infused with the modern forms and clean lines of more contemporary Italian furniture design. Floor-to-ceiling windows, weathered wood, ceramic tile accents and natural linens highlight the space. The result is a seamless journey that transports the guest from the hotel’s clean and refined public space to a quaint Italian Piazza. The Coast is calling - looking forward to sharing this experience with you! ***Check out the menus [here](https://www.capitanodc.com/menus/)*** We ask that ALL folks honor their RSVP. If you are unable to attend after sending in a YES, please update your status so that others may join. In the event our group incurs a fee for no-shows / late cancellations, your ability to RSVP for future events will be restricted. Thank you in advance for your understanding. **WAITLIST:** Meetup does not allow a waitlist for paid events. If this event fills and you are interested in adding your name to the waitlist, please send host a message through the app. In the future, we will vary the days of the week and the types of restaurants so that we can attract many different types of diners. Feel free to make suggestions for future meet locations. All diners will pay their own tab. before departing the event. If you are unable to join us in April we hope you'll stay interested and join us for a meal in the future. Looking forward to catching up with you for a fantastic dinner at Capitano!

Albert Camus. L'Exil et le Royaume.Exile and the Kingdom.
L'Exil et le Royaume d'Albert Camus est un recueil de six nouvelles explorant la condition humaine entre l'exil (solitude, absurdité, séparation, déréliction) et le royaume (sérénité, communion avec le monde). Exile and the Kingdom is Albert Camus' fine collection of six short stories which explores the human condition between exile (solitude, absuridity, apartness, abandonment) and the kingdom (peace, communion with the world). L'Exil et le Royaume, published in 1957, was the last work of fiction Camus produced before his tragic early death in 1960. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington,_D.C.) which competes in Major League Soccer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Soccer) (MLS). It is one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its inception, in 1996 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996_Major_League_Soccer_season). D.C. United has won 13 international and domestic titles or honors over the club's history (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_D.C._United). D.C. United was one of the most successful (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_League_Soccer_records_and_statistics#All-Time_Most_Successful_MLS_Clubs) clubs in the early years of MLS, winning 8 of its 13 titles between 1996 and 1998 under head coach Bruce Arena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Arena). United holds an MLS record for most MLS Cup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_Cup) and Supporters' Shields (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supporters%27_Shield) apiece, winning each honor four times, and has won the U.S. Open Cup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamar_Hunt_U.S._Open_Cup) three times. United was also the first club to win both the MLS Cup and MLS Supporters' Shield consecutively. On the international stage, D.C. United has competed in both the CONCACAF Champions League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CONCACAF_Champions_League) and its predecessor, the CONCACAF Champions' Cup. Humanist Program
Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid.
