**SAT Feb 28th from 12:15-1:15pm** Learn a fun arrangement for ukulele in the pop, rock, + folk realms. Maureen will provide two different sheets - one arrangement for beginner players (who know 3-4 chords) and another arrangement for intermediate players. This way, everyone wins! Beginners can push their skills with chord changes and intermediate players can enjoy tinkering with riffs and engaging in new strum and picking patterns. Each month Noah Gitlis teaches a different Jazz Standard with emphasis on melody, harmony, accompaniment, and rhythm. The goal of the class is to help students boost their jazz repertoire, and build the skills required to feel confident in a jazz jam session. These classes are a lot of fun and a great way to get out and play with other people while learning some really fun music. All instruments and skill levels are welcome but students should have basic proficiency on their instrument to get the most out of the class. Join the National Museum of the American Latino on Saturday, April 18, from 10:30 AM–5 PM to celebrate our new exhibition, ¡Puro Ritmo! The Musical Journey of Salsa, and enjoy an afternoon of music, dance, and activities throughout the museum. The program will include salsa dance lessons, a guided gallery tour of the exhibition, family activities, a West African percussion performance and a live salsa concert. Visitors can also attend a listening session guided by prominent salseros and family story time. All ages are welcome.

MOST IMPORTANT POINTS: 1. If you have copies of Rise Up Singing and Rise Again, please bring them. If you don't, we may have some extras available for you to borrow (one time only, please). Both books are easy to find and order online. 2. Feel free to bring lyrics and chords to hand out for songs not in the book. If you'd like to bring a song that most people don't know well, see if you can find a YouTube link and post it in the comments when you RSVP. We'd like to listen a few times before the SOJO to get the hang of it. 3. Bring something to drink, as singing is likely to make you thirsty. 4. We appreciate but do not require, any contributions ($5, or whatever) to help pay for the rent at the chapel. 5. Please do RSVP. We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20am and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area.
