Come join us for a fun, relaxing day of hanging out, arts & crafts, and board games at the NoVA Prism Center! We will be providing supplies for various arts and crafts, but feel free to bring your own project or supplies as well! We will also have board games ready for use for anyone not artistically inclined (\*cough\*like Velvet\*cough\*) who still wants to join in and chill with friends. Be sure to bring some games from your own collection as well, as ours will be somewhat limited. In addition, this is a fursuit friendly event! This is a FREE event, and is all ages! A highly-requested returning teacher, Kecia Deveney, joins us for our annual Creative Minds Summit. Stitched After Printing: Gelli-Printed Fabric Creatures is welcoming to all levels and celebrates imperfection, texture, and personal voice. We’ll begin by printing directly onto fabric using Gelli Arts plates, layering color, pattern, and marks to create a surface full of history and movement. From there, the printed cloth becomes the foundation for a soft sculptural figure. Hand stitching, fabric collage, and simple mark making will bring each figure to life — wonky, expressive, and entirely unique. These are not perfect dolls; they are character-filled beings shaped by process and intuition. Join our Chief Creative Mind, Judy Gula, during the last day of our Creative Minds Summit 2026. Create a playful mixed media bird collage using a combination of vintage and contemporary design! Capoeira (capo-way-ra) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that is unlike any other martial art. Capoeira incorporates flowing movements with kicks, dodges, and some acrobatics. It is often mistaken for a dance for those reasons. Since it’s origins in the 17th century, it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration. It is great for the body and mind! In addition to gaining strength and flexibility in class, students learn about Brazilian culture, history, and language (Portuguese). On November 26, 2014 capoeira was granted a special protected status as "intangible cultural heritage” by UNESCO.
