  • Talk will be in German
Talk - Java applications with serverless functions - does it always have to be Kubernetes?
  • Description: In this session, Michael Loibl shows how Java-based applications can be developed with serverless functions using the example of AWS Lambda. With serverless infrastructure, the corresponding cloud provider takes care of the provision, management, scalability and reliability of the infrastructure. These advantages are particularly noticeable with serverless functions in combination with Java backend applications.
The presentation will look at the trade-offs that need to be considered when developing Java backend applications based on serverless functions. Comparisons will also be made with other common options such as containerized applications with Kubernetes. The presentation also includes a small live demo that demonstrates the use of Java-based serverless functions using the example of AWS Lambda.
  • Speaker: Michael Loibl works at NTT DATA as a cloud-native software developer and architect. His focus is on modern software development and software architecture as well as AWS based cloud-native infrastructure setups. He is a speaker for tech talks, meetups and conferences as well as SME in the field of cloud-native development. He dedicates his free time to mountain sports: from ski touring in winter to climbing or hiking in summer.
