Welcome and Networking 🤝
- Join us for some pre-event networking.
- Enjoy pizza 🍕 and refreshments while get-to-know fellow AWS enthusiasts.
- Kick off the meetup with a warm welcome and a brief introduction to the evening's exciting agenda.
Talk 1 - Cell-Based Architecture: Designing a Serverless Cell Router on AWS - Level 300 (30min)
- Description: Learn how a serverless cell router acts as the entry point to a global, cell-based architecture—routing users, monitoring capacity, and scaling dynamically. This session explores a resilient design pattern using static routing to boost performance and ensure seamless user experience even during service disruptions.
- Speaker: Mian Tariq (Senior cloud architect at AWS)
- About the Speaker: For over two decades, I’ve worked at the intersection of software engineering, enterprise architecture, and innovation. I design smart, scalable systems and lead teams to bring them to life, helping businesses solve complex problems.
Talk 2 - Building a Self-Updating ML Pipeline on AWS - Level 200 (30min)
- Description: This talk is a retrospective on a real-world project delivered by a Netlight team in spring 2024. We’ll walk through how we built a batch-based, AWS-native ML pipeline from scratch, using XGBoost for model training. The pipeline runs on a schedule, retrains itself, and redeploys models automatically. Expect a down-to-earth look at the architecture, lessons learned, and why simplicity often wins. If you’re interested in what it actually takes to get a machine learning project into production — including the rough edges — this talk is for you.
- Speakers: Albert Asratyan (Software Engineering Consultant @ Netlight)
- About the Speakers: Albert is a cloud consultant with a strong focus on AWS, working across a wide range of industries on projects spanning backend systems, data engineering, and AI. I care deeply about iteration speed and long-term maintainability - principles that guide my architectural decisions. Given the choice, I'll always opt for cloud-native, fully managed services to minimize operational overhead and maximize time spent delivering value. See you soon!
Talk 3 - A rant on operating CDK in production - Level 100 (30min)
- Description: In this session, we will discuss a hands-on experience on operating CDK at scale in production, including setting up a winning CDK structure, deployment strategies for multiple environments and all the benefits but also complications you can have with the popular AWS tool.
- Speakers: Lisa Martiny (Cloud Architect @ Netlight)
- About the Speaker: Lisa is a cloud architect at Netlight with extensive experience in AWS infrastructure and a strong background in building microservices architectures. My work spans Banking, Fintech, and Telecom, where I’ve applied domain-driven design principles to solve complex challenges. I’m passionate about designing systems that are both robust and adaptable to the changing needs of modern businesses. Looking forward to connecting!
