Lanterns in the Fog: Legends & English Magic
Details
As the light fades and leaves turn to copper, we meet at the season’s threshold, the veil where shadows lengthen and the unseen presses close.
This Ghostlights session invites writers, artists, wanderers, and seekers to explore the veil: that liminal boundary between the known and the unknown. Together, we’ll use conversation, fragments, and creative prompts to feel our way into this season of mystery.
Details
Autumn draws in; mist settles on the city. Between folklore and history, old beliefs and simple workings, we’ll trace the stories that shaped these islands, cunning-folk lore, omens, seasonal rites, and legends of transformation. This October, by candlelight, we open the circle to legends, English folk-magic and pagan roots.

Why Lanterns in the Fog?
Because folklore is a living thing. The old stories, marks and rituals hold memory and meaning. By exploring them now, together, we learn, create and keep the tradition alive.
> Which story, mark or charm would you carry into the darkening season?
Ghostlights is for the rare, the restless, seekers, readers, artists, writers and anyone drawn to depth, myth and real conversation. Inclusive, gentle, intentionally mindful 🌒
Optional Writing/Drawing Prompts We’ll Offer:
– “A door left open in the woods…”
– “Something I’ve lost but still feels near…”
– “A message from the other side…”
– “Describe the smell of autumn as if it were a living thing…”
(You can write, sketch, collage, or simply listen - no performance or sharing required unless you want to.)
Tone:
This isn’t therapy, a séance, or a performance space - it’s a small, mindful gathering where people interested in myth, creativity, and the unseen can explore together.
About Ghostlights:
Ghostlights is a small, evolving space for writers, artists, and seekers who want to explore liminal themes in a welcoming, low-pressure space.
Each month we pick a new theme, from inner wilderness to folklore and the unseen, and build a gentle afternoon around it.
