Ghostlights Book Club: The Great God Pan
Details
A few people in the Ghostlights group suggested starting a book club, so we thought we’d give it a try.
The idea is simple: a relaxed gathering to talk about interesting and unusual books. Nothing academic or formal, just good conversation with people who enjoy strange stories, folklore, and thought-provoking fiction.
For our first meeting we’ll be reading Arthur Machen’s classic weird tale The Great God Pan. Written in the 1890s, it’s one of the early classics of supernatural fiction: gothic, unsettling,
and quietly influential on later writers such as Lovecraft. It’s also quite short, which makes it a perfect place to begin.
If you’d like to read it beforehand, it’s free to read online here:

If you’ve read it, great. If not, you’re still very welcome to come along. People who have read the story can help guide the conversation, and everyone else is free to listen, share thoughts, and join in where they like.
If all goes well, we’ll continue the Ghostlights book club and explore other strange and fascinating books together in future.
All are welcome.
Hope to see you there!
