This edition is co-hosted with WiCyS Germany as part of Women’s History Month — celebrating diversity in cybersecurity while keeping the focus firmly on technical exchange and shared learning.
Whether you're working in security, IT, studying, or simply curious about modern cyber threats, this evening is designed to be practical, approachable, and grounded in real-world experience.
Arrival: from 17:30 (you can come over anytime)
Talks start: 6:15 pm
️Talks will be held in English
Pizza & drinks provided
Expect three in-depth technical talks from experienced Security Engineers, a short cybersecurity trivia competition, and plenty of time to network and connect with others in the local security community — including conversations about daily work in the field and open roles.
THE TALKS:
“Behind the Checklist: When Security Controls Don't Go Far Enough” by Shruti Taware
Security controls may look solid on paper — but do they truly reduce risk? This talk explores the gap between compliance-driven approaches and real resilience. We’ll discuss why defenses fail under pressure and what it means to design adaptive, threat-informed security strategies.
“Phisherman’s Friend: Building Defensive Security Controls by Building Attack Infrastructure” by Geoffrey Galitz
In this session, we’ll build a phishing attack system step by step to better understand how attackers operate. Along the way, we’ll analyze which defensive controls actually make a difference. You’ll leave with practical, applicable ideas to review in your own environment.
“See it First Before it Hits: Threat Intelligence in Action to Stay Ahead in the Modern Threat Landscape” by Sara Rahimi
Adopting a threat-hunting mindset can help defenders recognize patterns early and anticipate attacks before they escalate. Through strategic insights and real-world scenarios, this session makes today’s threat landscape tangible and actionable.
