Kreuzberg is the holy mountain of the Franken, the people living in northern Bavaria. So it is no wonder there is a monastery not far below the peak. We start in Oberweißenbrunn and hike to the monastery to have a beer that is brewed there or a hot beverage.. Then we hike up the pilgrim stairway to the peak. We continue around the peak until we reach Haflinger Alm. We hike down to the valley and around Arnsberg until we reach Oberweißenbrunn again.
We meet in Fra Hbf at 8:15 at the beginning of platform 8 for RE50 departing at 8:24. A Deutschlandticket or RMV annual ticket is recommended, but you can also buy a single day ticket.
The distance is ca. 14 km. Important: The hike is in -- at least partially deep -- snow with freezing temperatures. You need appropriate shoes (preferable ones that cover the ankles) and clothing. It is in a mountainous area, have a look at the route and elevation in the photos section. Take beverages & food for the way with you.
Disclaimer: The weather forecast is cloudy, but take precaution for changing conditions. It is an outdoor activity and I can only estimate when we reach the destination. There will be photos taken by the organizer (and probably others) at nice spots. GDPR clause: By participating you agree to be on group and other photos where you are not the main motive.
