Famous Rhine castle trail from Oberwesel to St. Goar with fireworks at the end
Details
We start in Oberwesel, visit the city and hike up to the castle. We continue along the city wall. Then there are two options:
- Ölsbergsteig. This is a demanding and steep trail including ropes for security and ladders. It is only for experienced hikers, but gives adventure and great views
- The other option is to hike above it on normal trails appropriate for everyone
We will hike on a route with great views and will have a view on the famous Lorelei on the other side of the Rhine. Then there are two options again
- You stay on the hill level and enjoy the fireworks from there. In The past, there was a food & wine pavillon,
- We will reach Rheinfels castles and then hike down to the city. There are many pavilions with wine, other beverages and food.
We meet in Fra Hbf at 12:55 at the beginning of platform 19 for RE 2 departing at 13:08. You need a Deutschlandticket to participate.
The distance is ca. 10/13 km, up and down. Have a look in the photos section. Temperatures will be near 30°. Take enough beverages & food for the way with you, as we will not have a restaurant stop during the hike.
Disclaimer: The weather forecast is sunny, but take precaution for changing conditions. It is an outdoor activity and I can only estimate when we reach the destination.
