What we’re about
Colorado Springs Toastmasters is the oldest club in Colorado Springs. We are designated as Club 555, and affectionately known as the Triple Nickel.
Whether you are a shy introvert wanting a safe place to practice, or a gregarious extrovert wanting a captive audience without interruption, we can all benefit from becoming better communicators! No matter what your personal goals and passion in life are, being able to clearly articulate those ideas will help manifest them in your life. From improving interview skills, giving presentations, learning how to provide and receive feedback, or just being more comfortable in a group, this is the place to safely practice and improve. Come attend a meeting and see if our local Toastmasters Club 555 is the place for you!
The mission of our club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn fosters self-confidence and personal growth.
What’s in it for you?
Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. Whether you are a professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, Toastmasters is the most efficient, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining great communication skills. By learning to effectively formulate and express your ideas, you open an entirely new world of possibilities. You’ll be more persuasive and confident when giving presentations, and you’ll improve your one-on-one dealings with others.
How does it work?
Everyone in a Toastmasters meeting was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced program allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. And you’ll love the applause! Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. At first, you’ll be applauded for your effort; later you’ll be applauded for your skills.
Meeting Details
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 5:55 PM, and we have set an ambitious goal of having weekly meetings by the Summer.
While we normally meet in City Hall, this currently is not an option given that building renovations are in progress. In the interim, we are conducting hybrid meetings to accommodate our members that prefer to meet either in person or virtually via Zoom. Those who opt to attend the meeting in person will be emailed directions to the host's location.
We provide the best bang for the buck! Your first meeting is free. When you decide to become a member, there is a $20 first-time member fee, and the bi-annual dues are only $50.
Come grow with us!
