Try Out Comedy & Make New Friends!

Because of its growing popularity, we’re excited to announce that Try Out Comedy is now a weekly event! Every Thursday, we’re bringing the laughs, the spotlight, and the opportunity to make new friends at the DC hot spot, Eckington Hall.

🎤 What’s Try Out Comedy?

It’s part comedy show, part open mic. Whether you’re stepping on stage or just pulling up a chair, this is the perfect way to shake off the week and have some fun.

If you’ve ever wanted to try stand-up, this is your sign. If you're just here for the laughs and good company, you’re in the right place. Our crowd is a mix of performers, friends, and friendly strangers who leave as new friends.

✨ Come for the comedy, stay for the connection.

  • Meet new people in a chill, welcoming space
  • Shake off some stress and laugh your face off
  • Try something totally different
  • Build confidence and creativity
  • Support local comics and rising stars
  • Just vibe with good humans for the night

🕢 Details:

  • Showtime: 8:00 PM every Thursday
  • Performer sign-ups: Starts at 7:30 PM
  • Location: Eckington Hall, Northeast DC (next to the Bouldering Project)

🎙️ For Performers:
You get 5 minutes on stage—whether it’s your first or your fiftieth time. Think of it like karaoke, but for jokes. Share a funny story, rant about your day, try out a new bit—we’re here for it. We’ll give you the light at 4 minutes, and if you want feedback, just ask! There are always comics around who are happy to help.

😆 For the Audience:
You don’t have to perform to be part of the fun. Just show up, grab a seat, and enjoy the show. You’ll laugh, maybe cry (from laughing), and probably leave with a few new friends. It’s the perfect low-pressure way to unwind, connect, and feel a part of your community.

🚗 Getting to Eckington Hall:

  • Parking: Free street parking nearby (just check the signs)
  • Metro: 10-minute walk from NoMa-Gallaudet U Station (Red Line)
  • Directions: Look for the cobblestone path off Quincy St and Q St NE, right next to the Bouldering Project.

🎉 Stay in the Loop!
