Details
Cryptocurrencies have been getting a lot of attention in 2017 as the notion of decentralized stores of value start to become more and more accepted. Blockchain is the new buzzword and everyone wants one, but what is a blockchain?
This meetup is directed towards those of you who want to know about bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrency but find all the info out there completely overwhelming. Our approach will be to be as least technical as possible, while explaining some key benefits and downfalls of the technology.
This meetup is not intended for power users, although users of all levels are welcome we will be catering to the basics.
Topics we will be covering (6pm - 7pm):
• What is Bitcoin? (High Level non-technical overview)
• Use cases for bitcoin
• Setting up a Wallet
• How to setup your wallet / Backing up your private keys
• How to purchase Bitcoin in Canada
• How to send bitcoin
Q&A + Mix and Mingle with Bitcoin "experts" (7pm - 8pm):
After we have gone through the basics, we will have some users who are considered veterans in the space to help those of you who would still like to learn more. This will be an excellent chance to ask some questions one on one.
