This 6.7mile mostly easy hike is flat. Pace: 3mph. The trek explores the Monocacy Aqueduct then saunters between the C&O canal & Potomac River. After passing some ruins as well as possible theatrical turtles the hike bridges a small stream en route to Maryland's BIGGEST (Champion) Tree (youtube video). Latter of the circuit spurs to an additional colossal champion tree before turning back towards the trailhead, pausing at a cement blockade along the Potomac. Highlights include a lax Lock (#27) House, the desolate Dickerson Power Plant, & a terrific Walk-in Tree. A historical hike!
