This book group focuses on authors and stories that explore diverse and underrepresented voices and experiences. This month's book is "The Girls at 17 Swann Street" by Yara Zgheib. A little about the book: Anna Roux was a professional dancer who followed the man of her dreams from Paris to Missouri. There, alone with her biggest fears – imperfection, failure, loneliness – she spirals down anorexia and depression till she weighs a mere eighty-eight pounds. Forced to seek treatment, she is admitted as a patient at 17 Swann Street, a peach pink house where pale, fragile women with life-threatening eating disorders live. Women like Emm, the veteran; quiet Valerie; Julia, always hungry. Together, they must fight their diseases and face six meals a day. Books will be available at the Main Desk for one month before this meeting. New members are always welcome.
Are you a new (or new-ish) parent? Join us with your little ones for a relaxed weekly meet-up designed for parents and caregivers of youngsters up to 18 months old – connect with others in the community, share experiences, and build your support network in a friendly, welcoming space. And on select Thursdays, guest speakers will join us to share information on topics relevant to new parents, from early literacy and child development, to self-care and local resources. Registration is requested by not required. Please direct any questions to Shelby Downie at sdownie@nevinslibrary.org. This program is part of our Growing Readers initiative, funded by the Edwin J. Castle Fund.

Come for the coffee or tea, stay for the games! Bring your own board game or borrow one of the library's for this meetup for new adults. Since the library does have a limited selection of games, bringing your own board game to teach is highly encouraged. If you choose to borrow a game, you must do so with your library card.
