Cultural Cookbook Club invites participants to explore new flavors and traditions from around the world through food. Each month, we will choose a cuisine, and each attendee will choose at least one recipe inspired by our theme, prepare it at home, and bring it to the event. We will sample (optional) each dish “buffet style”, and discuss the recipes. You can follow the recipe as written, modify it and make it your own, or adapt it to a special diet. It's up to you! Please bring the recipe or list of ingredients to the meeting. If you adapt the recipe, please let us know how you did so and whether it accommodates any special dietary requirements during the group discussion. Sampling is optional, and the library is not responsible for monitoring or managing food allergies or sensitivities. We will go around the room at each event, introduce ourselves, discuss our recipes and cooking experiences, and talk a little about life as well, so we can build some friendships! This group meets the first Monday of the month.

Good To Know:

Don't feel obligated to double the recipe - everyone will take a small portion, and not everyone will eat every single thing. So feel free to prepare one regular recipe as written, but you can make more if you really want to.

Prepare your dish at home and bring it to the event. If you are preparing a hot dish, consider how you want to keep it warm. A microwave oven is available for warming. You might also consider a crockpot or insulated carrier. It may also be just as tasty served at room temperature! Whatever works for you - just plan ahead!
