FREE - SUMMER HIKE - Chichester to West Wittering and Swim?!

Meeting Point:
Outside Chichester Railway Station, PO19 8DN

Details:
Join us for a 12 to 14-mile (approx.) linear walk that starts at Chichester Railway Station following the abandoned Chichester Canal through scenic surroundings to Birdham's boatyards. The route continues through creeks, saltmarshes, and mudflats, ending at the mouth of Chichester Harbour by the stunning West Wittering beach.

This walk is rich in wildlife, including dragonflies near the canal and waders on the mudflats. If you're looking to explore the countryside of the Cathedral city of West Sussex, this is an excellent opportunity that can finish with a refreshing swim at West Wittering beach. The beach offers wonderful views of Chichester Harbour and the South Downs beyond, the natural and unspoilt sandy beach of West Wittering has been a favourite destination for generations. Escape to this idyllic destination for an early summer retreat and immerse yourself in the beauty that surrounds you. This will be followed by a visit to a local pub near Chichester Train Station.

Route & Transportation:

• Start Point: Chichester Railway Station
• End Point: West Wittering
• At the end of the walk, we'll take the bus (No. 52 or 53) from West Wittering back to Chichester to head to the train station.

Pace & Difficulty:
The walk will be at a medium to relaxed pace and is mostly flat, with possibly one or two gentle hills. It's suitable for most people with a reasonable level of fitness.

What to Bring:

• Comfortable hiking boots/shoes (some areas may be slippery).
• At least 1 litre of water.
• Packed lunch and snacks.
• Swimwear (if you'd like to swim at the beach and you definitely may want to).
• A positive spirit!

• Please note - The participants are expected to stay with or behind the hike / walk leader and not go ahead of him as this is important to maintain the pace of the group and keep the group together and to allow people behind to catch up.

Post-Walk Plans:
We'll end the day at a pub close to Chichester Train Station for those who'd like to relax and socialize.
