# Ready for a big summer adventure through some of Surrey’s most iconic landscapes?
Join us for a 13–15 mile journey across rolling heathland, shady woodland, historic landmarks, and the beautiful Frensham Ponds — with the option to take a refreshing wild swim at Frensham Great Pond if the weather is warm.
This is one of Surrey’s classic long routes: varied, scenic, and full of character.

## 🌄 About the Hike
This circular hike takes us from historic Farnham, through wooded valleys, sandy heathland, and open ridges with wide views across Surrey’s countryside. We’ll visit the legendary Mother Ludlam’s Cave, cross the sweeping heath of Frensham Common, and pass both Frensham Ponds.
Optional Swim: At Frensham Great Pond, you’ll have the chance to take a dip in one of Surrey’s most scenic swimming spots. Swimming is optional — you can relax on the shore if you prefer.
Summer is a fantastic time to explore this area:

## 🥾 What to Expect
- A long summer hike (approx. 13–15 miles) with a mix of forest, heath, and open views
- Some sandy paths, woodland tracks, and gentle climbs
- An intermediate pace — steady, sociable, and suitable for regular walkers
- Optional wild swim at Frensham Great Pond
- Participants must stay with or behind the hike leader to keep the group together
- We finish at a pub near the station for food, drinks & a social
## 🎒 What to Bring
- Good hiking boots or sturdy trail shoes
- At least 2L of water (it can get hot in summer)
- Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
- Packed lunch & snacks
- Swimwear + towel (if you want to swim)
- Light layers — evenings can still cool down
- Waterproof jacket (British summer likes surprises)
