Nihao,

Sign up for a FREE online Chinese class now! We will meet at 8:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on 5/26.

This class is ideal for beginners who want to take their first Chinese class. If you’re an intermediate or advanced learner, this class might be a little easy for you, but you’re more than welcome to join us.

What will be covered:

  • Basic Identity & Nationality Sentences: Affirmative statements ("I am...") and simple negation ("I am not...").

  • Yes/No Questions with "吗" (ma): Placing the question particle at the end of a statement to form a question.

  • The "A-not-A" Question Structure: Using affirmative-negative verb or adjective phrasing ("tired-not-tired," "good-not-good") to ask questions instead of using "ma."

  • Expressing Degrees of Feeling: Utilizing strong adverbs to qualify physical or mental states ("extremely" vs. "not at all").

  • Expressing Culinary Preferences: Describing whether food or drink tastes exceptionally good or exceptionally bad.

  • Pronouns & Negation: I/me, you, he/him, she/her, not/no.

  • Countries: China, United States, Mexico, Canada.

  • States of Being & Feelings: Lately/recently, tired, busy, sleepy.

  • Adverbs of Degree: Extremely/very, not at all, especially/exceptionally.

  • Food Items: Steamed rice, noodles, steamed stuffed buns (baozi), dumplings, bread.

  • Taste Descriptions: Delicious (for food), delicious (for drinks), bad-tasting (for food), bad-tasting (for drinks).

To protect our meeting from intruders, we will not share the meeting link in public here. We will share the meeting link with you directly before the class. Please provide your email address upon registration.
