Oshaberi IZAKAYA is an online community for all those who are learning Japanese and want to improve their oral skills by enjoying "oshaberi" which means "chatting".

Regardless of Japanese level, age, country, mother tongue, etc., anyone can join the meetups for free. However, it is recommended that you have completed A1 or JLPT N5 level, meaning that you are able to ask and answer questions for example about favorite foods, daily life, hobbies and travels even if in a simple way, so that you can participate in conversations stressfree. If you are not sure about your level, just come and check out how you feel.

What we do in a meetup
- Check-in (10 min.)
- 3 Conversations in small groups of 3-4 people (45 min.)
- Check-out (5 min.)

Meetups are hosted by Izumi. Born and raised in Sendai, Japan, she is now living in Switzerland. Being a Japanese teacher and from her own experiences she is convinced that learning foreign languages works best in real conversational situations. For all those who do not have the opportunity to speak Japanese in their daily life, she created Oshaberi IZAKAYA in 2017 and has held about 300 meetups until now.ㅤ
