Box Hill Walk - Surrey - 12 miles
Details
Box Hill is most famous for the panoramic far-reaching views to the South. From the stone structure viewpoint you can see for more than 15 miles ahead; with Surrey and East Sussex stretching out beneath you. From here we will walk down to the foot of Box Hill and cross the river Mole via the 16 hexagonal stepping stones. We walk through Denbies vineyard wine estate then take a late lunch break at Polesden Lacey, a Georgian National trust building where there are cafe with hot and cold food. This walk is not suitable for beginners, you must be able to walk at a minimum pace of 2.5 mph and only rest after 2 hours of walking. There are 2 very steeps hills to walk up, each over 100 metres in height. The group cannot wait if any members struggle to keep up with the pace. Hiking boots are essential.
