Salisbury to Amesbury via Stonehenge walk approx 16 miles

Details
We’ll begin our journey in the historic city of Salisbury, with its cathedral spire towering above. A short walk brings us to Old Sarum, the site of the original Salisbury — an ancient hillfort with sweeping views over the countryside. From here, we’ll follow quiet trails, grassy paths, and chalk downs, passing through the timeless Wiltshire landscape.
As we approach the halfway point, the legendary stones of Stonehenge appear on the horizon. We’ll pause to take in this awe-inspiring monument, standing silent and mysterious as it has for millennia, before continuing our trek across open fields and gentle river valleys.
Our route ends in the historic town of Amesbury, where we’ll catch a local bus back to Salisbury. Expect a full day’s walk — about 16 miles — with plenty of scenery, history, and fresh country air.
Meet outside Salisbury Station. I will join the train at Clapham junction so will meet you all at Salisbury. As we have to take a bus I have limited the group to 50 people so please only rsvp if you definitely intend to attend.
Outward Travel: Take the train departing 09.15 AM from London Waterloo to Salisbury arr 10.42
Buy a super off peak day return to Salisbury , the cost is about £30 with a groupsave or network rail card.
