Join us for a 17-mile circular hike from Farnham, designed for walkers who enjoy covering some distance while exploring the quieter, lesser-known landscapes of Surrey. This is a route that slips away from the busy world and uncovers some of the area’s most peaceful and characterful corners.
We set off from Farnham, leaving the historic streets behind and quickly entering a mosaic of woodland, sandy tracks and open heath. Much of this walk follows paths that feel wonderfully tucked away — the kind of places you’d never find unless you were on foot, where birdsong replaces traffic and the views stretch across heather and pine.
The route takes us through the atmospheric Bourne Woods, before continuing through wide, quiet forest and across open commons that feel surprisingly wild for this part of the country. We’ll also pass through gentle farmland and small valleys, linking together a series of hidden corners that show off the variety and beauty of this landscape.
With a steady but sociable pace, we’ll have time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and pause for breaks along
the way. As the loop closes, we return to Farnham, where cafés and pubs await for anyone who fancies a well-earned drink and a chat after a full day on the trail.

This walk is ideal if you love discovering places that feel off the map, sharing good company, and enjoying that deep, satisfying tiredness that comes from a proper day out in the countryside.

TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE
Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel - this gives everyone the freedom and choice. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered.
As most of our trips are confirmed or postponed very close to the event date - heavily depending on the weather forecasts - we advise not to buy this until the last minute. People getting tickets from the same station are encouraged to meet early on the day to benefit from discounts such as GroupSave.
