What we’re about

## Welcome to our Hiking group !

Escape the city and discover the stunning landscapes of rural Britain with a community that shares your love for the outdoors.

We’re a friendly and inclusive group of nature enthusiasts brought together by a shared passion for hiking, fresh air, and great company. Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or just starting out, everyone is welcome on our adventures!

About Us
Founded in April 2025, our group was created by outdoor lovers seeking a positive, inclusive, and discrimination-free hiking experience.

We are a community of passionate, experienced hikers who share a love for the outdoors, a deep connection with nature, and the joy of great company on the trails.

Our organisers dedicate a lot of personal time to scouting and testing hiking routes in advance, ensuring they are familiar with the terrain and that the paths are safe before hosting them as public events. We strive to create hiking experiences that offer something different from the usual routes others are hosting.

Our Walks
Based in London and the South East, we organise regular hikes ranging from 10 to 20 miles. Expect scenic trails, peaceful countryside, and yes, the occasional muddy field! Each hike is led by experienced hikers who volunteer their time to generously guide the group and ensure a safe and enjoyable journey.

Costs
All of our hikes are completely free! If you'd like to support us, donations are always welcome. They help cover the costs of running the group and support our awesome hosts in researching and leading unforgettable adventures.

What to Expect on a Hike
If you’re new to group hiking or joining us for the first time, here’s what you can typically expect:

  • A friendly welcome and brief introduction at the starting point
  • Group pacing with breaks for photos, snacks, and rest
  • Opportunities to chat, share stories, and connect with others
  • A return to the start point or a designated finish, often near a pub or café!

Who Can Join?

  • Events are open to adults aged 21 and over.
  • Sorry, no children or pets on hosted events.

Fitness & Readiness
Our hikes vary in difficulty but generally require a moderate level of fitness. Please read the event details carefully and be honest about your ability. If you’re unsure, feel free to message the host, we’re here to help!

Most hikes are accessible by public transport (trains, buses), and we encourage sustainable travel whenever possible. Event pages include meeting points and travel details.

Hike Grades

  • EASY: relaxed walks suitable for walkers with average levels of fitness and in general good health. These walks are typically on maintained trails or quiet roads and have good signage. Gradients are gentle with no steep uphill or downhill sections. No previous hiking experience is required and they are suitable for novices and different age groups. Walking is typically limited to 3-5h per day (up to 12km).
  • EASY/MODERATE: mostly easy but may include longer hikes on some days with some moderate uphill or downhill elevations. Generally, the walking routes are well maintained but may involve some rougher terrain and steeper or exposed sections on certain days. Walking is on average 4-6h per day (up to 15km).
  • MODERATE: suitable for more regular hikers who have a good level of fitness. Moderate itineraries include longer walking days with steeper and longer ascents and descents. Terrain may be mixed, including rocky areas. Walking is on average 5-7h per day (up to 20km).
  • MODERATE/STRENUOUS: suitable for regular hikers with a good level of fitness who are looking for more challenging hikes. These itineraries usually have extended steep ascents and descents. They may also include high mountain terrain which is rugged and rough underfoot, with some sections of scrambling. Moderate/strenuous itineraries have mostly moderate walks, but may include longer strenuous treks on some days. They might also include hut to hut walks which require carrying your own backpack along these more remote sections. Walking is on average 6-9h per day (up to 30km).
  • STRENUOUS: suitable for very experienced hikers with a high level of fitness. Navigation skills are also required. They include daily steep ascents and descents over rough and varied terrain in high mountain regions and may include some exposed areas, fixed ropes and scrambling. They often include hut to hut walks on some or all days and require carrying your own backpack in these more remote areas. Walking is on average 8-10h per day (30km+).
