Join us for a summer day exploring the very best of the Surrey Hills, with sweeping views, ancient woodland, rolling heathland, hidden trails, and great company every step of the way. This is one of those classic routes that never loses its charm, whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth.

Starting from Box Hill & Westhumble railway station, we’ll soon leave the bustle behind as we climb into the hills, winding through the peaceful woodland and open heath of Ranmore Common, with plenty of time to soak up the summer scenery, take in the views, and catch up with fellow hikers along the way.

By lunchtime we’ll arrive in Holmbury St Mary for a relaxed pub stop, with the option to enjoy your picnic on the village green, make use of the pub facilities, refill your water bottles, or perhaps treat yourself to a well-earned drink.

Refreshed, we continue along the scenic Greensand Way before climbing to the iconic Leith Hill Tower, the highest point in South East England. Here we’ll pause to admire the far-reaching views, grab an ice cream or cold drink from the kiosk, and soak up one of Surrey’s finest viewpoints.

From there, we descend by a quieter trail that many walkers never discover, before rejoining the route past the charming Tillingbourne Waterfall and through the beautiful vines of Denbies Wine Estate.

To round off this memorable summer adventure, we’ll finish at the iconic Stepping Stones Pub, where there’s the option for one final drink with fellow hikers before the short walk back to the station and the journey home.

A proper Surrey summer classic, stunning scenery, varied trails, great conversation, and all the ingredients for a fantastic day in the hills.

👣 GROUP PACE & PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES
This is a friendly, social event where we walk together as a group and enjoy each other’s company. We kindly ask that everyone stays with the group rather than rushing ahead or hiking independently.

The spirit of this group is to connect, engage, and share the experience together, while also maintaining group safety and reducing the risk of anyone being left behind.

A back marker may not always be present, so please keep the group in sight and stay within a reasonable distance.

To help keep things running smoothly, faster walkers should wait at junctions. If needed, feel free to pass slower walkers and continue with the main group.
Organisers may pause at suitable points to regroup.

We do our best to keep everyone together, but we can’t stop frequently for individuals who are unable to maintain the pace. In these situations, you may need to continue at your own pace.

If you choose to move ahead or leave the group structure, you’ll be considered to be continuing independently and responsible for your own route and safety. If you do so without informing an organiser, it will be assumed you’re managing independently.

By attending, you agree to follow these guidelines.
