📖 ABOUT:
💛This is a unique hike you won’t find anywhere else: the very best of the western South Downs packed into a single day. Don’t miss it!

A big, beautiful day on the western South Downs, starting and finishing at Petersfield station. We head out along quiet lanes and field paths with the Downs escarpment rising beside us, then drop into the Meon Valley and stop for lunch at a peaceful eco-centre set in woodland with toilets and a café.

Then comes the highlight!: we climb onto the chalk ridge and follow it south, with the South Downs opening up around us in every direction, to the summit of Butser Hill at 271 m – the second highest point on the South Downs chalk ridge. On a clear day the views are simply magnificent, stretching across the Downs to the coast and the Isle of Wight. 🌄 We finish by descending through beautiful beech and yew woodland back into Petersfield.
