### Main Idea:
One of the most important things Christians want to know is God’s will for their lives. The good news is—we canknow it, both through Scripture and through the Holy Spirit guiding us personally.
### Two Types of God’s Will:
- God’s Revealed Will (from Scripture):
- God wants everyone to repent and be saved (2 Peter 3:9).
- He wants believers to live holy lives (1 Thess. 4:3) and walk in the Spirit (1 Peter 4:6).
- The Bible clearly outlines what God expects from all believers.
- God’s Specific Will (for each individual):
- These are personal life decisions like who to marry, what job to take, where to live, etc.
- These answers come through the Holy Spirit speaking to our spirit.
- Other Wills That Influence Us:
- Our own will (which can be self-centered).
- Satan’s will (deceptive and harmful).
- Both can lead us off course if we aren’t listening to God.
### How to Discover God’s Will (Three Paths):
- Pray to Know God’s Will:
- Paul prayed constantly that believers would be filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9).
- We should pray regularly not just for answers, but for insight into what God wants.
- Present Yourself to God:
- Romans 12:1–2 tells us to offer our lives to God and allow our minds to be renewed.
- This helps us recognize what’s truly from God and not just our own or worldly desires.
- Surrendering yourself daily leads to a deeper spiritual life and clarity.
- Pray Back God’s Will to Him:
- Once you sense God’s specific will in an area, pray it back to Him.
- If the prayer is answered (in God’s timing), it confirms it was truly His will (1 John 5:14–15).
- Note: Don’t pray for what Scripture already says you are in Christ (e.g., righteousness, forgiveness). Thank God instead.
### Examples & Practice:
- The speaker shares a personal story about sensing God’s will to have a second child—confirmed both spiritually and through circumstances.
- In church prayer meetings, they practice “listening prayer” to discern God’s will together. When two people receive the same revelation, it often confirms God’s direction for the community (Matthew 18:19).
### Final Takeaways:
- You can know both God’s revealed and specific will by:
- Praying sincerely
- Presenting yourself fully to God
- Listening to the Spirit and seeking confirmation
- Staying on track in your spiritual journey isn’t about trying harder—it’s about seeking God’s will and following it daily.
